Fort Myers Beach Chamber to Host Business Expo

The Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for one of its signature annual events. The annual business expo draws in service industries, local businesses, non-profits and organizations together to spread information to both each other and the public. This year's expo will be held Thursday, Jan. 19, in the Walmart parking lot at 17105 San Carlos Blvd. As of last week, 30 businesses and organizations had committed to the event, with registration permitted until Jan. 18. Putt & Pub Crawl Seeks Auction Donations        

While everyone practices their mini-golf swings, the Putt & Pub Crawl is asking for auction item donations. The 7th annual bar crawl and fundraiser will be held from 10 a.m.to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21. The event is organized by Lahaina Realty; this year's fundraising efforts will benefit the Beach Elementary PTO and the Beach Soccer Club. That money helps the PTO help pay for school field trips and most importantly, fully funds the elementary's after-school programs. For $225 per four-person team, groups can support the PTO and local business at the same time. The teams will have from 10 a.m.to 4:30 p.m.to visit the nine participating bars. Each bar will have a "goofy" golf hole set up for participants, as well as drink specials, prizes and raffles. Proceeds from the entry fees will be donated to the PTO and soccer club. reFRESH FMBeach Project Update

Contractors for the Town of Fort Myers Beach and Lee County are installing new water main, and sanitary sewer force main, storm drainage, sidewalk and rebuilding roadway on Estero Boulevard from Crescent Street to Madera Road. Two travel lanes are expected to remain open the majority of the project; however, motorists may experience daytime or nighttime one-lane traffic on Estero Boulevard. Flaggers will alternate traffic frequently, but motorists should expect delays. Crews are expected to work Monday through Friday and most Saturdays. Construction will be year-round. This schedule may change due to underground conditions and inclement weather.
