Downtown Concept Outlined
This week the Sand Paper followed up on our editorial last week ("Downtown-What We Know Now” Island Sand Paper October 23, 2015) in which we revealed tentative plans for the project planned for downtown Fort Myers Beach by Grand Resort Fort Myers Beach. Since March 2015 Grand Resort has purchased several commercial properties stretching from the Mermaid property to the edge of Crescent Beach Family Park along the Gulf, plus the Helmerich Plaza and parcels on 5th Street, spending a total of $31.9 million for them. County’s Road Project Begins
On Tuesday morning, Kaye Molnar and Tracy Hayden of CellaMolnar & Associates, Darin Brown and Eric Schneider of Chris-Tel Construction and Rob Phelan from Lee County Department of Transportation (LDOT) held a ‘block meeting’ with residents along Estero Boulevard from Lovers Lane to Red Coconut to announce that preliminary work on the first segment of Lee County’s Estero Boulevard Reconstruction project will begin this weekend. "Since the county’s project involves replacing sanitary/sewer lines, which are located on the opposite side of the road from where the Town of Fort Myers Beach replaced its water mains, we have begun switching the road direction to two lanes on the Gulf side of Estero Boulevard,” said Kaye.
