LIFE ON FORT MYERS BEACH

Poll: Beach Voters Looking for Change
Fort Myers Beach voters overwhelmingly support downtown redevelopment including Times Square revitalization, completion of the Estero Blvd stormwater project, Bay Oaks and updating the Comprehensive Plan according to a recent poll of beach voters. In late February a live telephone survey of 276 Fort Myers Beach registered voters was conducted by Civility Management, LLC of Orlando on behalf of the Estero Island Taxpayers Association (EITA). Voters were identified by using the Florida Vote File provided by the Florida Division of Elections. Only voters with telephone numbers in Fort Myers Beach precincts were selected. Executive Director of the EITA Beverley Milligan shared the poll data and preliminary conclusion that the EITA was on the right track.  FULL STORY

Sheena Chosen for The Voice, Joins Team Adam
Local singer Sheena Brook was selected to compete on NBC’s The Voice Tuesday night. She joined Team Adam Levine. A local favorite, Sheena has been performing on the beach for several years. She participated in the Island Hopper Songwriter Fest the past two years and has most recently been singing at the Salty Crab on Tuesday afternoons and Saturday nights and at the Sunset Beach Grill in Time Square Islanders have been watching for Brook’s turn on the show’s Blind Auditions since February 28th when the 2017 season began. Once the four judges have complete teams, battle rounds begin. Battle rounds are scheduled for March 20, 21, 27 and 28 on NBC. Follow the competition on NBC TV and by downloading The Voice app. Check the Sand Paper next week for an interview with Sheena and a look behind the scenes.
