Estero Blvd. Construction Update

Estero Boulevard reconstruction reached its first milestone with the basic completion of the initial segment from Crescent Street to Miramar Avenue, with everyone enjoying the new 9-foot, extra-wide sidewalks. Almost all of Estero Boulevard from Times Square to Lovers Lane is complete. TECO Gas is done with gas main installations, as is the sanitary sewer force main work. Crews finished the roadway from the Lani Kai Island Resort to near Miramar Avenue, and curb and 9-foot wide sidewalks are complete on the bay side from Crescent to near Miramar Streets, and on the beach side from near Avenue C to near Miramar. Workers regraded, rebuilt, and paved the northbound and southbound travel lanes, and finished the center lane storm drain, pervious pavers and the final paving. Get the full story here.

ART DIVINE HOLIDAY ART SALE
Looking for some great local art for under $150? The Fort Myers Beach Art Association’s annual holiday sale begins on December 10th at the FMBAA’s gallery on the corner of Shell Mound and Donora and runs through January 12. There will be a variety of pieces available – both framed and unframed, including some of their popular minis. What a great way to purchase original art at reasonable prices! From 8-11am, check out all the baked goods and tasty treats at Bayside Estates’ Recreation Hall in Bayside Estates. The Bayside Socialites sponsor this event and is an organization that contributes both time and money to charitable organizations in the community.

A CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION
The joy of the season will resonate throughout the sanctuary on Sunday, December 11th at 6:15pm as The Village Church Choir, the Celebration Ringers and the Southwest Florida Festival Orchestra present ‘A Christmas Celebration.’ This festive program will feature Hal Hopson’s classic arrangements interwoven through a service of lessons and carols celebrating the joy of the season. There’s nothing like a children’s choir singing Christmas carols, is there? Those sweet young voices paired with smiling little faces…The Community Christmas Celebration will bring the Lehigh Acres Children’s Choir to Santini Marina Plaza on Saturday, December 17th to share Christmas music with those who attend this annual holiday celebration. The Island’s favorite karaoke DJ, Brenda Berringer will host Holiday Karaoke from 10am-2pm, with the Children’s Choir performing at 11am. Step up to the microphone and share your version of your favorite holiday classic! The Artisan and Fresh Market will be open with 30+ creative artisans offering unique hand-made gift ideas to complete your Christmas shopping, plus fresh fruits and veggies. WRAPPING PARTY
All the toys donated and bought from the Beach Kids’ Foundation’s fundraisers will be wrapped at a special party that begins at 5pm and continues until all the gifts are wrapped. Meet at the Clubhouse at Red Coconut RV Park. Hot dogs and hamburgers provided by firefighters from the FMB Fire Control District.
