Pirate Museum Coming to Beach
The Pirate flair that fills Fort Myers Beach this weekend during the Pirate Festival will begin to fade on Monday, but those with a love of all things related to the Sweet Trade need not fret, for soon Fort Myers Beach will have its very own Pirate Museum! We met with Nervous Nellie’s owner Rob DeGennaro and Pirate Museum Project Manager John 'Jack' Moga this week, and they told us the idea has been a long time coming for a community with so colorful a pirate history. "The museum will be set up underneath the Snug Harbor building, which is about 1700 square feet of space,” Moga, who met DeGennaro through a business associate earlier this year, told us. MPO Hears Report on Traffic/San Carlos Boulevard Planning Study
The Lee County Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) made a presentation last week on the results of a stakeholder's meeting held at Town Hall on May 30thconcerning improvements to San Carlos Boulevard and Estero Boulevard from Crescent Street to and including the Matanzas Pass Bridge. The presentation is but one part of the San Carlos Boulevard Project Development and Engineering (PD&E) Study being conducted by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) with the ultimate goal being improvements to our seasonal traffic tie-ups and San Carlos Boulevard itself - all the way up to the Gladiolus intersection.  Read more here: http://www.islandsandpaper.com/mpo.aspx
