Expo Spotlights Area Businesses
The Greater Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce will host a Business Expo on Thursday, June 19th from 4-7pm at the Residence Inn. Over 30 area businesses will be exhibiting at the Expo, offering deals and incentives to attendees. Everyone is invited to stop by and get to know and support local businesses. Admission is free to this annual event that gives area businesses a chance to connect with each other and local residents. Neighbors Vehemently Oppose Mound House Parking
Fort Myers Beach Mayor Anita Cereceda hosted a meeting on Wednesday night at the Newton Park for residents of the Connecticut Street/Shell Mound neighborhood aimed at finding some kind of common ground as to the fate of the Town-owned property at 216 Connecticut, a vacant lot purchased by the Town in 2003 for possible use as overflow parking for the Mound House. Emotions ran high as the 25+ neighbors expressed their deep distrust for local government, with many of them saying they felt betrayed when the Town purchased the Mound House back in 2000 and that they did not want any more intrusion into their quiet community.  To read more: http://www.islandsandpaper.com/teaser2.aspx
