1st 2014 Edition

Happy New Year, everyone! January is the perfect time to be on Fort Myers Beach. With the holidays over, it's time to relax and have fun in paradise, and it doesn't matter whether you are visiting or local, there are plenty of things going on this month to get anyone in the mood for some FUN on Fort Myers Beach!!

 

Hertz Breaks Ground on Its Global Headquarters in Estero, Florida

The Hertz Corporation (NYSE: HTZ) today held a groundbreaking ceremony for its state-of-the-art global headquarters to be located at the intersection of U.S. Route 41 and Williams Road in Estero, Florida. The project is expected to create an estimated 400 headquarter jobs to be filled locally, and approximately 300 positions to be filled by Hertz employees relocating to the Estero area upon its completion in 2015.

BAY OAKS RECREATIONAL CAMPUS
Membership is free for all island
residents. Open MO-SA with activities for individuals and families.
Adult Basketball League plays on Monday nights, taking registration
until 1/13 with games to begin on 1/27. Pick up a newsletter for a
daily list of activities, or call 239-765-4022 for more information.
 

HISTORIC COTTAGE
Island museum located at 161 Bay Rd, at the entrance to Matanzas
Pass Preserve, houses a collection of artifacts, photos and
memorabilia of life on Estero Island. Open WE and SA10am-Noon.


MOUND HOUSE
Estero Island's oldest standing structure sits on a 2,000 year old
Calusa Indian Mound. Hours are TU, WE and SA from 10am-2pm.
Last tour leaves at 1:30pm. 239-765-0865
 

FORT MYERS BEACH LIBRARY
Books, newspapers, magazines, WI-Fi, Lots to see and do. Visitor card available. MO & WE, 9am-7:30pm; TU, TH & FR 9am-5pm; SAT 9am-1pm.
 

BROADWAY PALM DINNER THEATER
“South Pacific” runs until Feb. 15.
“Nana's Naughty Knickers” opens Jan. 16 and runs until Mar. 15th..
