SAND SCULPTING CHAMPIONSHIPS CONCLUDE
10am-5pm. On the beach behind Wyndham Garden, formerly Holiday
Inn. Solo competition sculptures on display. Doubles
competition ends. Florida State Championships end. Sand sculpting
lessons, Sand Vendor Village, kids activity area and photo opportunity
sculptures. Todayʼs highlights: Quick Sand at 2 & 4pm;
Chain Saw Art at 12pm & 3pm; Live music by Nick Beauregard at
1:30 & 2:30pm; Awards Ceremony at 4:30pm.

BARRIER ISLANDS GUIDED WALK
9:30-10am, Bowditch Point. Learn
the importance of barrier islands and their unique ecosystem and
how they protect the mainland. Explore the beachfront tropical
hardwoods, coastal scrub, and wetland hardwood forest plant

LOVER'S KEY FISHING CLINIC
10am, Lovers Key. Join park naturalists
to learn a variety of tackle and fresh bait rigs, find out the
best places to drop a line, and learn about the rules and regulations
that pertain to game fishing in Southwest Florida. Free with

Wednesday, Dec 4th

MORNING BEACH WALK
9am, Newton Park. Join an experienced
biologist for a guided beach walk exploring the natural
treasures that wash ashore on the beach. Free. 239-765-4222

FISHING FLEET TOUR
9am-Noon at Ostego Bay Marine
Science Center, located under the bridge on San Carlos Island, this
3-hour tour includes a 90 min guided tour of the Marine Science
Center and a 90-minute tour of the commercial fishing industry.
Learn how boats are unloaded, nets repaired and seafood is
processed. Cost $15/adult; $10 students over age 6. Reservations required. 239-765-8101

BEGINNING BIRDING
10am, Lovers Key. Explore the
prime birding areas of Lovers Key State Park with a park ranger.
Learn how to identify the birds you see and where to go in the
park for great birding. A limited number of binoculars will be provided.

Sand Sculpting Championships Return
Next weekend marks the beginning of the 27th Annual American Sand Sculpting Championships here on Fort Myers Beach. Starting November 22 and running through December 1, the 10-day festival is packed with events to keep you coming back for more. The American Championships is the largest sand sculpting event in Florida and one of the largest in the world. It is also the longest running. Quite a distinction for our island community. Manatee Crisis Hits Lee County
Lee County is known for it’s beautiful beaches, warm waters and abundant wildlife – but some of that wildlife is in danger this season. This year, manatees throughout the state have taken the hardest hit they’ve experienced in three years, with death tolls through the roof. And where does Lee County stand? 10am-5pm. On the beach behind Wyndham Garden, formerly Holiday Inn. Friday is Make-A-Wish Day-A portion of the proceeds will go towards the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Florida. Solo competition begins today as 16 of the worldʼs best compete for the crown. Sand sculpting lessons, Sand Vendor Village, kids activity area and photo opportunity sculptures. Highlights: Chain
saw art at 12pm & 3pm; Quick Sand at 1pm & 4:30pm.

AMERICAN SAND SCULPTING CHAMPIONSHIPS
